The Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun Corps, paraded 48 individuals on Monday who are suspected of being involved in various criminal activities throughout the state.
During a press briefing at the Amotekun headquarters in Akure, the state capital, Commander Adetunji Adeleye stated that the suspects were apprehended for offenses such as kidnapping, theft, burglary, impersonation, violating anti-grazing laws, and vandalism, among other crimes.
Commander Adeleye emphasized the Corps’ ongoing commitment to safeguarding lives and properties in the state.
In anticipation of the upcoming Islamic festival, Adeleye announced that 1,000 personnel would be deployed to prevent criminal activities during the celebrations.
He also addressed the issue of public infrastructure vandalism.
“In Isua, we discovered extensive theft of transformers and cables. With the community’s support, Amotekun has dismantled a significant criminal network responsible for these thefts.
“We apprehended three groups involved in these crimes, who were selling stolen items to an individual currently evading capture. However, the law will soon catch up with him.
“To ensure safety during the Ileya Festival, starting tomorrow, the Corps will station 1,000 personnel at key locations such as borders, prayer grounds, markets, and churches across the state. This initiative aims to provide a secure environment for residents to enjoy the holiday without fear.”
Adeleye assured that the Corps would continue its efforts to maintain peace and security, allowing people to celebrate and rest without concern.
