Sally Abagha and Friends Medical Outreach Brings Smiles To Indigent Ebonyi Citizens

Provides Free Healthcare, Meals, Others

No fewer than 1230 persons with eye defects, dental, and other health challenges smiled home with free treatments and meals during the Oziza Medical Mission organised recently, by a non-governmental organisation, Sally Abagha, and Friends Medical Outreach in Ebonyi.

In addition, over 192 persons received free reading glasses, while tooth extractions were carried out on three persons during the two-day medical outreach which was held between Friday, May 17, and Saturday, May 18.

Commenting on the programme, Pastor Sally Abagha, said that the medical outreach also provided free checks of vital signs, minor laboratory investigations, dental and eye checks/ treatment, including free reading glasses, general consultation, and therapy.

“It also offered diagnostic services and tuberculosis treatment, carried out in partnership with Anabel foundations based in the Federal Medical Center, Abakaliki,” Pastor Abagha noted.

The event which attracted a large crowd also featured a religious crusade presided over by Rev (Dr) Godspower Chukwuma Abagha and saw 153 people accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

This is even as prayers were offered for several persons who got healed of different health challenges, ranging from arthritis, hearing problems, migraines, kidney pains, strange diseases, and ‘spiritual marine’ issues.

Concerning the reasons for organising the medical mission, Pastor Abagha explained that she was inspired to contribute to ameliorating the indigent’s difficulties and spread the Gospel of Christ to the people.

“My birthday is May 7, and my friends, family, and Church members usually celebrate with me. This year I had the burden of reaching out to the less privileged instead of having a birthday party.

When I shared the burden with my husband, Rev (Dr) Godspower Chukwuma Abagha, he gave me his maximum support.

“The idea was not only to give free medical care but also to reach out to people with the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. So, I had to involve Jason Health Organization.

“Jason Health Organization is an international health organisation based in University College Hospital, Ibadan made up of different health professionals that are involved in giving healthcare services as well as preaching the gospel in rural areas. I also had to involve some of my friends and colleagues who are based locally in Igbo land to bridge the language barrier,” she said.

Pastor Sally also explained that her choice of Ozizza Community in Afikpo North LGA as the venue for the medical outreach and crusade was to help the people overcome some of their challenges that need divine interventions.

“The outreach in the Ozizza Community of Afikpo North local government of Ebonyi State arose from my visit to the community last November for my father-in-law’s funeral. I spent a few days in the Ozizza community, where I realised that these people needed help. Not only medical help, but also divine intervention,” she added.

Abagha commended the medical team, saying, “On behalf of Abagha’s family, we appreciate the medical team from Aba, Umuahia, Ibadan, Owerri, Abakaliki, and Afikpo for contributing to the success of the two-day medical outreach and crusade.”

Further, she applauded the roles of the Gospel Crusaders team and the Local Organising Committee led by Apostle Nnachi Godwin for the great work they did in mobilising the community members.

Explaining that the Gospel Crusaders team is a nondenominational prayer group based in Owerri, Imo state, she appreciated them for their spiritual support and everyone who contributed in no small measure to make the programme successful.
