Erelu Kemi Elebute-Halle, a prominent figure in Ekiti politics, recently extended a helping hand to the disadvantaged members of her community. Recognizing the struggles faced by single parents, orphans, and widows, she took initiative to provide relief to those in need during these challenging economic times. Through a distribution effort amounting to N20 million, she reached out to residents of Oke Ayedun, Odo Ayedun, and Igbara Odo Ekiti.
The distribution occurred as part of two significant events: the fifth coronation anniversary of the Alaaye of Oke Ayedun and the burial ceremonies of Mrs. Esther Olufunke Ojo in Odo Ayedun and Pa Michael Ojoko in Igbara Odo Ekiti. Over 600 individuals from these communities benefited from Elebute-Halle’s generosity.
Her relief efforts included the provision of essential items such as BAO rice, which she branded in the governor’s name to support ongoing humanitarian initiatives in the state. Additionally, she distributed kitchen utensils, back-to-school supplies, and cash to alleviate the financial burden faced by many families, especially women striving to provide for their children.
Elebute-Halle explained that witnessing the hardships endured by women, particularly those forced into dire situations due to loan defaults, inspired her to take action. She recounted distressing accounts of individuals subjected to public humiliation and exploitation by creditors. These stories motivated her to organize the recent empowerment initiatives, prioritizing immediate assistance to those most in need.
Reflecting on her commitment to making a positive impact, Elebute-Halle emphasized the importance of addressing the pressing needs of struggling mothers, single parents, and orphans. Through her longstanding involvement with organizations like the Dominion Mothers Group, dedicated to supporting vulnerable groups since 2018, she continues to champion humanitarian causes and strive for meaningful change in her community.
