The Kogi State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr. Femi Osungbohun, has expressed his appreciation to the Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman, for his outstanding commitment to the welfare of NYSC corps members posted to the institution.
During a courtesy visit on Friday, May 31, 2024, Mr. Osungbohun praised the Polytechnic’s management for their unwavering support and urged them to further increase the monthly stipend for corps members and grant them access to the institution’s medical facilities.
Highlighting the institution’s dedication, Mr. Osungbohun said, “You are our major partner, and I am impressed with the way corps members are being utilised in various departments and units of the Polytechnic. This is a clear demonstration of the institution’s support for the NYSC programme and its commitment to the development and integration of NYSC core values.”
He encouraged corps members to serve as worthy ambassadors, contributing meaningfully to the institution’s development, while maintaining integrity and avoiding any conduct that could tarnish the programme’s reputation.
In response, Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman thanked the State Coordinator for his commendation and reaffirmed the institution’s pride in developing corps members’ skills. He announced an immediate increase in the monthly stipend for corps members and granted them access to the institution’s medical facilities.
Dr. Usman also debunked recent rumors of a bandit attack on the institution, describing them as politically motivated and vowed to take action against those spreading such misinformation. He emphasized his administration’s efforts to ensure the safety and security of corps members, including relocating their lodge back to campus.
The visit concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and an inspection tour of the Polytechnic’s medical center, which left the NYSC officials satisfied.
Present at the event were principal officers, management members of the Polytechnic, and various NYSC officials.
