Anambra 2025 Governorship Election: A Fierce Battle Looms

The sun rises over the rolling hills of Anambra State, casting its golden hue on the bustling streets. But beneath the serene facade lies a tempest—a political storm brewing with intensity. The 2025 governorship election looms large, and every heartbeat echoes the rhythm of change. As the countdown ticks away, let us unfurl the banner of democracy and explore the players, their chess moves, and the whispers that ripple through the air.

Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s YPP Gains Momentum

Picture Senator Ifeanyi Ubah—a man of fire and conviction. His journey from grassroots activist to political juggernaut is a saga etched in determination. The Young Progressive Party (YPP), once a footnote in the political lexicon, now commands attention. Ubah’s secret? It lies in the dusty streets of Nnewi, where he walks shoulder-to-shoulder with traders, artisans, and dreamers. His rallies are electric—speeches punctuated by promises of better schools, accessible healthcare, and roads that lead beyond the horizon. The YPP, fueled by Ubah’s unwavering commitment to hard work, has become a beacon for those who dare to dream differently.

The Ikemba Front has hailed the decision of the senator representing Anambra-South District, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, to run for the 2025 Anambra state governorship election.

The group described the decision as a “brilliant move that is in line with the wishes of the people of Anambra state.”

The group insisted that the Senator was the only one who could rescue the state from the clutches of insecurity, lack of direction and underdevelopment the administration of Gov Charles Soludo plunged it into.

The National Coordinator of the group, Sir Arinzechukwu Awogu, who disclosed this in a communique issued to journalists during a media chat, said that Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah will win the 2025 Anambra state governorship polls because he is the choice of the people of Anambra State.

He said that Ikemba Front is fully structured across the three Senatorial zones of the state to mobilize support for the emergence of Sen Ubah who will be flying the All-Progressives Congress (APC) flag.

The group has therefore urged all the progressives in the state to queue behind the aspirations and vision of Sen. Ubah to steady the ship of the state and to bring about simultaneous development of all sectors in the state.

Sir Awogu who also spoke about the newfound grassroots acceptance, the APC, as a political party now enjoys in the state, said that the entry of Sen. Ubah into APC made it possible.

“The ovation is loudest in Anambra APC today because of Sen. Ubah, and its crescendo will snowball into APC victory in the 2025 Anambra state governorship election,” he stated.

APC’s Sir Paul Chukwuma Challenges Incumbent Soludo

Chukwuma who declared his intention to contest during a press conference in his country home at Umueri in Anambra East local government area of the state said that he was coming to serve and to connect Anambra state to the centre.

Sir Paul Chukwuma, is a seasoned warhorse with ink-stained fingers and a heart that beats in party colours. The All-Progressives Congress (APC) is his canvas, and he wields the brush of experience. Chukwuma’s eyes fixate on the governorship prize—the mantle of leadership that Soludo currently wears. Their rivalry transcends mere politics; it’s a clash of ideologies. Chukwuma’s speeches resonate in dimly lit halls, invoking memories of past victories and the promise of a brighter future. His vision: roads paved with prosperity, bridges spanning generations, and a legacy etched in granite. The APC primaries—the arena where contenders spar—will decide whether Chukwuma’s name graces the ballot.

He said: “It is who can deliver Ndi Anambra from the present insecurity and infrastructural decay.

The governorship is meant for those who can do the job, who are qualified, and competent and who have the capacity and zeal to connect Anambra to the centre and attract development to the state.

“I had approached the governor to join the moving train and connect to the centre but he decided to remain in his party. So, all my efforts failed to ensure that Anambra belongs to the ruling party for the interest of the state, but to no avail. So, I decided to come out to contest to connect my state to the centre and attract developmental projects.

“The state government and APGA administration alone cannot tackle the erosion menace in some parts of Anambra South senatorial zone. We need to be part of the party at the centre to solve our problems talk to the president one-on-one and meet with other progressive governors to move the state forward.

“I’m coming to serve my people. God has blessed me with my efforts. I have not worked in any government establishment apart from the compulsory NYSC programme which I did in Abuja at the National Assembly. I’m self-made and I can count how many projects I attracted to the state and employment I have created and given to our people through my efforts. So, you will tell me why I should not do more if allowed to serve the state as the governor.

“Look at Imo and Ebonyi’s states, because they connected to the centre the benefit abounds. Look at federal projects in those states completed and ongoing. APC has benefited Southeast more than any other political party. Look at the second Niger Bridge, completed at the appropriate time, look at the Enugu-Onitsha expressway nearing completion and so on. Let the people of the state be wise and connect to the centre by voting APC in 2025” Chukwuma appealed.

A Race of Uncertainties

As the campaign juggernauts gather steam, uncertainty dances on the edge of reason. Anambra residents sip their morning tea, pondering the choices before them. Will they embrace Ubah’s youthful dynamism, his promise of a digital revolution? Or will Chukwuma’s battle-hardened wisdom sway their hearts—the promise of stability, of tested hands at the helm? Education, healthcare, infrastructure—their fate hangs in the balance. The electorate knows this isn’t a mere vote; it’s a covenant with destiny. The 2025 Anambra State Governorship election isn’t a footnote; it’s a symphony—a crescendo building toward a finale that will echo through history.

So, dear reader, fasten your seatbelt. The curtain rises, and the drama unfolds.
